As a Community Rehabilitation Provider (CRP) contracted through the Kentucky Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR), Build Inclusion provides group classes for youth transitioning into adulthood, for successful post-secondary outcomes. Ideally that future includes meaningful employment in the community, and the possibility of college enrollment.

About Pre-ETS

While focused on preparation for competitive, integrated employment (CIE), these classes provide transferable knowledge which can be used in educational and social settings, independent living and community participation. While usually offered in an in-person school or community setting, our classes have evolved to include Zoom technology allowing us to continue these lessons during the COVID-19 crisis.

How Pre-ETS Works

In January of 2017, new regulations surrounding the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA)*, provided potentially-eligible students ages 14-21 the opportunity to receive Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS), based on 5 core competencies:

  • Job Exploration
  • Workplace Readiness Training
  • Self-Advocacy Instruction
  • Work-Based Learning Experiences
  • Post-Secondary Counseling

While normally offered in a group setting, arrangements can be made for individual lessons in some cases. In addition, these services can be offered to individuals to adults who have already graduated high school with the proper authorization and coordination of services.

Build Inclusion uses the Take Flight – Launchpad to Success™ curriculum, in an engaging and interactive environment, making learning fun for all students.Courses are offered in phased modules as follows:

PHASE ONE:

Addresses Self-Advocacy, Job Exploration and Work-Place Readiness Training.

PHASE TWO:

Encourages Leadership Development, Socialization, Team-Building, and Peer-to-Peer Mentorship to further develop Self-Advocacy and Work-Place Readiness Training. Students will plan and implement a service project which gives back to the community.

PHASE THREE:

Students that have completed phases One-Two with confidence will be partnered with students entering Phase One, leading them as Peer Mentors, again with a strong emphasis on Self-Advocacy and Work-Place Readiness.

PHASE FOUR:

Customized modules around Work-Based Learning Experiences and Post-Secondary Counseling for your area.

Course Delivery

All modules will be offered in a Universally Designed Learning (UDL) environment which will include visuals, hands-on learning, kinesthetic and technologically-based instruction.

The program will deliver employment training services to high school students and young adults with disabilities whom are under- or unemployed. The goal is to increase their vocational and social capacities in community-based settings. High school students potentially eligible for services, ages 14-21, and others outside of this age range may qualify for services.
